After a few failed attempts to get tickets, I finally get to watch Valentine’s Day with my darling hubby yesterday. It was such a romantic and heartwarming movie that I shed tears a few time – I’m woman enough to admit it...ahah! By the way, I should’ve planned ahead and brought tissue but I didn’t and had to wipe my tears with my blouse...not a very pretty sight I tell ya! It is this kind of movies that reminds us about the meaning of true love and devotion and the value of understanding in a relationship (marriage to be exact). Although I acknowledge that the stories could ONLY happen in movies, yet I can’t help but feel how lucky I am to have found the love of my life - other half of me, my husband.
Therefore today, instead of complaining about him, I have decided to say nothing but praises about the man I love the most – the man who by the way keeps threatening to ‘delete’ my beloved farm in FarmVille! But I still love him with all my heart and soul nevertheless.
He will be celebrating his 38th birthday this month, unfortunately his birthday falls in what could be the most important month for him work-wise plus my bro-in-law, who is also the youngest in the family, is getting engaged during his birthday week too. There goes my big plan for his birthday...sigh!
He has started travelling again yesterday after staying put in Malaysia since December last year. This is the man who is solely responsible for building CGA business from literally zero to hundreds of millions of USD worldwide for the company he works for (obviously I’m doing some free advertising for him here...hehehe). He definitely deserves much better from the company...but an Asian can’t be too demanding. It’s not in our culture, right? Nevertheless, he commands a rather huge salary package, thanks to moi who insisted that he demands for a better package not once but twice years back before he accepted the offer (remember, behind every successful man there is an incredibly smart wife...ngeh ngeh ngeh). But it never seems enough, with that kind of salary he could actually afford to buy me not just 1 but 2 LVs every month, take me on overseas vacation every other month and buy me a brand new Mini. I suppose with great salary comes great debt! Kwang, kwang, kwangggggg...(I'm NOT complaining here).
Yet, at home still washes his own plate although I insist that the maid will do that, make his own drink (and for me too), prepare his own breakfast, take care of the kids especially the young ones and help the kids with their homework when he’s home. He is also a handyman, a pool boy (somehow when I wrote this the image of pool boy portrayed in the Hollywood movies keeps flashing in my head...yummylicious! Please ignore me, this is a desperate housewife talking!), an electrician, a chauffeur and now the official family photographer too. Could I be luckier? I say definitely NOT...but on second thought if I had David Beckham or Brad Pitt for a husband may be YES...hehehehehe (again, I'm NOT complaining)
Anyway back on a serious note, a friend of a friend who recently lost her husband said to not take each other for granted. We often say this when it was already too late, don't you agree? A friend who recently lost his wife in an accident said he felt like it was a dream. One minute his wife was sitting next to him in his car and next he was burying her. I can’t even begin to imagine how they feel deep inside to lose their loved ones. I think I could be temporarily insane or rather choose to live in denial for as long as I could. Can you imagine losing your spouse? The person whom you shared your lives with for the last say...15 years, the person whom you sleep next to, share your secrets and your passions with - in short the person who knows you better than anyone else in the whole wide world? I can’t!!!
We must remind ourselves to cherish, to love and not to take each other for granted while we still have the luxury of having our loved ones around. The same goes for our parents, siblings, kids, friends, etc.
Now back to the movie, when the handsome gentleman (whom I forgot his name) asked Julia Robert, who sat next to him on a 14-hr flight, “Are you on Facebook?” I found it to be both very entertaining and worrisome at the same time. My husband has befriended a few people (sadly, women included too) whom he met during his travels and keep in touch through FB...hmmmmmmmmm. I could only guess that he asks the same question to the person who sit next to him on a long flight. What can I say, can’t live without it, can’t live with it! (by 'it' I mean Facebook!). Didn't I say that I'm only gonna sing praises about him? Ah well...sikit2 complain ok la tuh kan.
I say one should not be too trusting. We must leave some rooms for doubts...sesungguhnya manusia adalah bukan Nabi (also NOT complaining, just merely stating the obvious).

This is it
Yesterday, my eyes started becoming all teary at the start of the movie. I knew what I was about to watch was going to be history in the making. It would have been the greatest comeback concert in history, no doubt about it. Sadly, it became a history with his sudden death instead.
The movie was basically about Michael Jackson’s “This is It” concert rehearsals and behind the scene actions. It was purely intended for MJ’s fan to have a peek of what “This is It” was supposed to have happened. The amount of efforts and preparations put into making his last tour a success was really overwhelming. Dancers came from all over the world to audition for the concert. So if you’re not a fan of his music, don’t waste your time and money at the movie.
Health-wise, MJ was at his top form during the many rehearsals - he sang his lungs out (although he kept saying that he shouldn’t sing, and that he should save his throat for the actual concert instead), he danced and performed with so much passion. You can tell that he loved his music deeply. He was indeed THE King of Pop.
Watching him in his top form (he even looked very fit for a 50year old man, albeit a little too thin) makes me wonder what had actually killed him. He looked really healthy performing on stage live, dancing and all. Oh, if you were wondering who’s the girl with frizzy hair who sang during his funeral concert - she is Judith Hill, one of his back-up vocalists in “This is It”. She was supposed to sing one song live with him during the actual concert. And I have to say that his (male) dancers are all so damn gooood *drooling*. They remind me of the movie 300...ngeeeeee.
Back on more serious notes, there are a few theories circulating amongst his fans about the actual cause of his death (or more like who killed him). There is one very interesting version connected to the rumors about his conversion to Islam. I like that version best. However, I am too chicken to spread the rumors here (sorry people I don’t wanna leave hard evident for people to trace it back to me...takuts! If I suddenly disappeared from the face of this earth, it’s the CIA! Call KGB for help pronto!!!).

Seven Pounds - movie review
I love Will Smith. I watched almost all movies he starred in. The latest being Seven Pounds. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves story about love, regret and sacrifice. I say this is one of the best movies I've watched the past couple of years.
If you don't shed any tears watching this movie, I say you really have one tough heart...or you don't have a heart :) It's so touching and sad that even my husband shed some tears. I seldom see him cry during our 14+ years of marriage, this is one of the rare occasions. So, I thought this movie is worth a review in my blog.
Have you ever did something so bad that it haunts you forever? The movie started with Ben Thomas (or rather Tim actually, he was assuming his brother's identity as an IRS agent in his mission) making a 911 call. He was about to commit a suicide. The story line is a mix of his present life and flashbacks to his past. You have to watch until the end of the movie to understand completely what was going on.
He was punishing himself by giving to others. He gave his life so others could live. I wondered at first what does the title mean? It signifies what he has given to others - first was half his lung to his brother, half his liver to Holly, bone marrow to a kid, a kidney to an ice hockey coach, his beautiful beach house to a domestic violent victim, his eyes to Ezra and his heart to Emily. His message to the people he helped was 'live life abundantly'.
He did all these out of guilt. Guilty of causing the passing of 8 lives during a car crash, including his wife. An MIT graduate, a successful aeronautical engineer with a beautiful wife lost everything in a split second. The guilt has haunted him so badly that he was willing to take his own life for others to live in a rather creative way. He did his reseach well enough to ensure that the people he was helping really deserve it.
I say the ultimate message in this movie is - DON'T USE YOUR HANDPHONE WHILE DRIVING!!
Go watch this movie, if you don't like it, let me know... If you are a sucker for this type of movie like I am, I have another one to recommend - Life as a House. I watched it a few years ago. A friend recommended it. If you didn't cry watching this movie either, I say you really have a damn tough heart.

Slumdog Millionaire - movie review
This would be my first attempt to be a movie critic...
I watched Slumdog Millionaire with high expectation. A Bollywood movie that has won an oscar for best movie, it must be good...I thought. But I was quite disappointed with the movie, perhaps because I've set my bar rather high for this one. One thing for sure, if I were an Indian national, I'd be offended with the movie plot. Here's my say on the movie.
The movie started with a young man in police custody booked for suspicion of fraud during filming of "Who wants to be a millionaire" show. What???? You are being tortured just because they THINK you cheated? What'd happen if you're taken into custody for something more serious, like murder or kidnapping? I thank God I was born in Malaysia, I don't ever want to live in India if it was true.
Then came the flashback into his sad childhood. A kid willing to jump into a pool of shit just to get Amithab Bachan's autograph? Is this for real? Then he let his brother sold the autograph without much squabble? I mean, come on, he jumped into a pool of shit for that autograph!
Watching the kids living in poverty and being forced to beg is heart-wrecking. I've never been to India but a close friend of mine who had been there said her trip to New Delhi last year was an eye opener. It was a sad trip for her seeing kids her daughter's age begging on the street and living in such deplorable condition. It makes me feel lucky to be born in Malaysia. Malaysiaku gemilang...
Oh, on a different movie, I was comparing note with my Facebook friend on the message in Burn After Reading the other day. His take was don't trust your wife 100% and don't cheat on your wife, and I said cosmetic surgery rules! We both laughed at it.
